Relive the old-time glamour!

Join us in the Garden for a truly special night of Peking Opera vignettes performed by the Sunshine Performing Arts Troupe and commentary from SFU Professor Emeritus Jan Walls. Enjoy the symbolism, rhyme and elaborate traditional Peking Opera costumes in a classical Chinese garden setting. Vignettes that will be performed include Drunken Beauty (贵妃醉酒), Top Scholar as Matchmaker (状元媒) and Spring dream in Boudoir (春闺梦).

About Sunshine Performing Arts Troupe
This troupe was established over two years ago as a non-profit performing arts troupe. Many of its members and leaders are nationally recognized performers in such fields as traditional Chinese opera, dance, singing and instrumental music. The Troupe frequently takes part in philanthropic and public benefit performances in the United States and Canada, at events like the Vancouver Chinese Cultural Festival, the Anniversary Celebration Performances at the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco, and various public benefit shows in Los Angeles and Vancouver BC. Members of the Troupe applies themselves to the promotion of Chinese culture and Canada’s multicultural society.

Unwind at the end of the week with an eclectic musical program performed in an exquisite Chinese Garden. All concerts begin at 7:30pm, every Friday from July 5 – August 30. Doors open 7:00pm. Click here for more concerts.
