Andrea obtained her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from TsingHua University in Beijing. She went on to work as a psychology teacher at Zhejiang Education College, before starting a successful stationery company. Andrea was also trustee in the Beijing HaiDian District Business Committee, which included over 10,000 companies. Following fifteen years in Beijing, Andrea immigrated to Canada in 2007. Keen to familiarize herself with her new social surroundings, she began volunteering at the Garden. Andrea quickly realized that the Garden provided an opportunity for her to both engage with Canadian society, while also promoting Chinese culture. She took on increasing amounts of volunteer responsibilities.
As a board members Andrea hopes to draw on her marketing background to contribute to the expansion and promotion of the Garden. She is keen to engage visitors with Chinese history and culture, and to enhance Vancouver’s cultural diversity. Above all, Andrea is committed to expanding the volunteer pool, and to enlarging the local community’s involvement with the Garden.
