As a graduate of BCIT Building Technology, Kurt has over two decades of experience working in the local construction industry as a project manager, estimator and surveyor. He founded MAKAM Construction Ltd. In 1987. During his time at MAKAM, Kurt oversaw the complex design and building of the Langley City Fire Hall No.1, and in 2000 he was responsible for supervising the complex 5-phase additions and renovations to the Langley Hospital Emergency Ward.
It is through his experience in construction and interest in important local and cultural projects that first drew him to the Garden.
Kurt has been involved with the Garden since its creation in the early 80’s and was involved with the construction of the Hall of One Hundred Rivers which officially opened in 2004. It is exactly this historic knowledge and experience of the construction of the Garden that makes him an invaluable part of the Garden’s Facilities Committee.
Kurt’s vision for the Garden is to enhance the integration and coordination between the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
