A Feast of Words, Feb 20
As part of the Garden’s Chinese New Year virtual programming, Fiona Tinwei Lam will read poems from her latest poetry collection, Odes & Laments, and then lead a supportive writing session for participants on the theme of food, culture and celebrations, where there will be an opportunity to share your work.
February 20 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Vancouver writer Fiona Tinwei Lam’s recent poetry collection Odes & Laments celebrates the overlooked wonder in the everyday, while lamenting human incursions on the natural world. Besides authoring two previous poetry books and a children’s book, she edited The Bright Well: Contemporary Canadian Poems on Facing Cancer, and co-edited Love Me True: Writers Reflect on the Ins, Outs, Ups & Downs of Marriage with Jane Silcott.
Lam won The New Quarterly’s Nick Blatchford Prize and was a finalist for the City of Vancouver Book Award. Her work appears in more than forty anthologies, including The Best Canadian Poetry in English (both 2010 and 2020). Her award-winning poetry videos have screened at festivals internationally.
