The Garden in collaboration with Eveline Yu, founder of Rhythm ‘N’ Rhyme, are thrilled to announce “Songs & Rhymes” online educational program (via ZOOM) to connect, engage and have fun through music, storytelling and interactive activities in a Multilanguage setting.

Our aim is to expand this program but we are launching 3 (three) classes scheduled for the last Saturday of each month (March, April and May), at 11:30am (Vancouver time). All sessions will be in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English and focusing on different topics.

May 28th – Dragon Boat Festival

After the tremendous success of Eveline’s in person classes at the Garden last summer during Family Days and the virtual event “Songs & Rhymes to Welcome the New Year”, hosted online last January 29th the we are thrilled to expand this collaboration and look forward with optimism to more in-person projects!

Zoom link and details will be provided upon registration to the email used in the sign up process.

About Rhythm ‘N’ Rhyme

Rhythm ‘N’ Rhyme first started in Toronto (2016) with traditional English songs and rhymes. In 2017, the program merged with Yorkville Cantogoose, a Cantonese music circle that was running out of Yorkville Library. Eveline started the Yorkville Cantogoose (2014), hoping to raise her daughter in both English and Cantonese.

Having moved from Vancouver to Toronto, she(Eveline Yu) did not have any family to speak Cantonese to her daughter. Although Eveline came to Canada at the age of 6, she grew up in a Cantonese speaking household – and she wanted to gift this experience to her daughter. She wanted her daughter to meet and communicate with other Cantonese speaking families – and eventually, communicate with grandparents when they move back to Vancouver.

Over the years, as more families expressed interest in learning Chinese, Rhythm ‘N’ Rhyme has emerged into a music program that focuses on language and music development for the little ones. Now, the program has grown to offer classes in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
