Looking for something to do with the family this summer? Visit us on one of our special Family Days!

Every Sunday during July and August 2021, bring your family to the Garden for fun family activities. Buy your admission ticket then enter into our world to find crafts, games and other activities aimed at our youngest visitors!

Or join us for one of our exciting sign-up workshops. Enjoy family yoga, Tai Chi, music, movie making and more. See the schedule and book tickets below.

Family Days at the Garden - Workshop Schedule

All classes: 

$25 for one child participant plus parent. Includes admission to the Garden and spot in the class. 

Extra child spot in class $10

Extra accompanying adult $10

Max 10 children per class. If the class is full you will be added to a wait list.

July 4th, 9:30 – 10:30

Budding Biologists: Age 5 – 8 yrs

Learn about the form and function of living things in our Garden. Try eating like a bird and build an imaginary insect!

Tai Chi: Age 6+yrs

Tai chi involves a series of gentle movements and simple postures which are designed to improve coordination, balance and relieve stress. Fun for all ages!

Rhythm ‘N’ Rhyme Cantonese music class: Age 0 – 5yrs

Learn some traditional Cantonese songs and rhymes, as well as some new ones! There will be singing, dancing, instruments, and parachute play.  Come join in the fun!

LEGO® Make and Take 

Build your own creation using your imagination with LEGO bricks of all sizes, shapes and colours. Perhaps there is something in our Garden that inspires you!  At the end of the workshop, take your creation home plus 2 LEGO® mini figures!

At David’s request, we will be donating his fee to the charity Keep On Swimming which raises money for cancer research and support for people living with cancer and their families. The charity was started by David’s daughter Ashley, who passed away in 2006.

Rocks to Riches: Age 8 – 14yrs

Learn all about rocks and minerals in this fun STEM class. At the end of the class, participants will get a chance to practice their own mining skills!

FAMILY FAQs

Safety

Please note our traditional pond is not protected by a guard rail.
Please do not allow children to climb on any of our rocks or railings. This is for safety as well as conservation reasons.

Strollers and buggies

Compact strollers are allowed inside the Garden. Unfortunately due to our new operating procedures we are currently unable to store strollers on site, however you are welcome to keep them with you throughout your visit.

Accessibility

The halls and walkways in the Garden are wheelchair friendly. Our accessible entrance is located at the Eight Treasures Shop and our staff will show you how to access the Garden this way.

Baby Changing

An accessible co-ed washroom stall with changing table is available alongside the Gift Shop.

Baby Feeding

Parents and caregivers are welcome to breast or bottle feed young infants throughout the Garden, however we ask that walking children be fed with bigger kids in the designated picnic areas in the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Courtyard.

Food and Drink in the Garden

Like most museums, our Garden has a strict no food or drink policy for all visitors. There are no vending machines or lunchroom facilities, however families are welcome to eat in the courtyard outside our entrance, or in the Dr Sun Yat Sen Public Park next door to our Garden.
Please ask us for Chinatown lunch recommendations if you are interested in eating in a nearby restaurant or cafe.

Weather

We recommend you dress appropriately for the weather! Our walkways are covered so visitors are sheltered from rain and sun. Our rooms are not heated except for one large hall -the Hall of One Hundred Rivers.
