JOE CHAN - BOARD MEMBER
Joe is a partner at Richards Buell Sutton LLP, British Columbia’s oldest law firm with over 145 years of history. He advises on business law and securities and corporate finance matters for a broad range of clients, from public companies to non-profit entities, across an equally broad range of industries. Joe chairs Richards Buell Sutton LLP’s Asia Pacific practice group, as well as its securities law practice group.
Though Joe hails from Calgary, he has been living in Vancouver for quite some time. In Calgary, he was intimately involved in supporting the local arts and cultural community, including serving on the board of directors at CJSW FM 90.9, the community radio station based at the University of Calgary, from 1995 to 2006. Since moving to Vancouver, he has been a co-editor/writer for two websites, provided pro-bono legal advice to local Chinatown-based organizations, and served as a director at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Joe is a supporter of Chinatown and all that it offers, and hopes to use his skills and experience to serve the Garden, and Chinatown as a whole, in an effort to preserve its legacy and ensure its future going forward.
