Arts, Culture and Physical Literacy Field Trips

Study ancient Chinese techniques in the beautiful surroundings of our Classical Chinese Garden. 

Tai Chi relates to physical literacy and mental health strategies in the Physical and Health Education curriculum.  

Our Ancient Arts program introduces artistic expressions from a different time and place, and encourages individual artistic expression as in the Arts Education curriculum.

FIELD TRIPS

Ancient Arts (Grade 4+)

90 minutes | $8 per student

Learn about the practice of Chinese painting known as ink and wash painting. Use the beauty of the Chinese Garden as inspiration to create beautiful artwork to take home.

A Taste of Tai Chi (Grades 2 and up)

60 minutes | $13 per student

Tai chi involves a series of gentle movements and simple postures which are designed to improve coordination, balance and relieve stress. Tai chi is perfect for students of all ages and fitness levels.

Please note: this program is subject to the availability of our Tai Chi practitioners.

A minimum of 10 students is required for this program.

Add Garden Tour: $16 per student

Yoga in the Garden (Grades 2 and up)

60 minutes | $13 per student

Enjoy a relaxing yoga class in the peaceful surroundings of our Garden. This program is facilitated by a certified Yoga teacher.

Please note: this program is subject to the availability of our yoga instructors.

Rustling Leaves (Ages 5 - 11)

90 minutes | $8 per child

The ancient Chinese used plants as inspiration. Explore our Garden and learn why nature was so important to the Ancient Chinese, then enjoy some fun nature-based activities and puzzles using your observations.

This program works well for spring and summer camps.
