Programs relate directly to the Social Studies curriculum and cover big ideas and content such as family traditions, diversity of community and cultures, and aspects of life shared by peoples and cultures.

CHINESE NEW YEAR FIELD TRIPS
Celebrating A Rabbit Year (Pre-K - Gr 5)
60 minutes | $6 per student
Chinese New Year Programs will run between January 10th and February 3rd, 2023. Book early to get the time and date of your choice!
Chinese New Year is an exciting time! Explore its stories and traditions and finish the program by doing a fun scavenger hunt around the Garden OR a take-home craft.

Gung Hay Fat Choy/Gong Xi Fa Cai! (Grades 1-5)
60 minutes | $10 per student
Combine your New Year program in the garden with a Walking Tour along Pender Street. Learn all about the history of this fascinating neighbourhood and observe the ways local merchants celebrate the New Year.

Chinese New Year Lesson Kits $30 + tax
Let us help you recreate the excitement in your own school!
These kits include:
- exclusive access to a lesson plan, PowerPoint presentations and photocopiable material
- a Craft Kit with materials for each student to make a Chinese New Year craft (24 pieces per craft kit – extra crafts $5 per 24)
Chinese New Year Craft-only Kits $15 + tax
A craft-only kit is available (no lesson plan): $15 + tax
Chinese New Year Props Kit $40 + tax for 1 week rental
These kits work with the Lesson Plan and include decorations; photos; storytelling props; books; an authentic lion head and percussion instruments to put on a Lion Dance parade.

DRAGON BOAT FIELD TRIPS
Dragon Tales (Gr 4 and up)
90 minutes | $8 per student
Discover the stories and traditions behind the 2000 year old Dragon Boat Festival and learn about its connections to Vancouver. The program also includes a chance to explore our Garden and learn about Ming Dynasty family life. Students will examine topics including culture, tradition, and history, and end the program by making good luck charms.
Try your hand at the traditional sport of Dragon Boat paddling!
Dragon Boating run by our friends at Dragon Boat BC is available as an add-on to this program: $18 + tax per student ($33 + tax per post secondary student)
